Always love your Mama

It’

Today is Mother’s Day, maybe the most important day of the year. It’s the one day besides their birthday that gets to be about them.

Call or visit your Mama’s.

I wish I could call mine.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you. But to my ma.a most y’all.

Loved and missed everyday.

Love and light.

22 South to Birmingham

Tonight marks one month since I began the most eventful drive of my life. The 78 mile drive along I-22 from Fayette to Birmingham to say goodbye to my father on his death bed.

My father was not a physically large man but to me he was larger than life, having watched him do things that left me in awe. I remember the time he rebuilt a car engine in a parking lot, also the time he lifted a five hundred pound air conditioner, things I can’t do now even as an adult.

As I drove the memories of everything I hadn’t thought about in years returned. My father teaching me to play football or riding motorcycles with him as a boy. The science project he designed for my on the solar system. The same one that I tried to start an uprising over in the school auditorium when it only received Honorable Mention. Even how he loved German chocolate cake. He was by himself on that one, I’ve never been able to stand it. We’ll be fine. Go be with Mama. I love you,” I said.

The man I saw in the hospital bed was my father without being him. Now a shell of the man he had been unaware of his surroundings. Even though he had always been closer to my brother, at that moment I realized that Is had always been his son too.

“You’re fights over Daddy. We’ll all be okay. Go be with Mama. I love you.”

He died two days later at 9:50 in the morning.

Goodbye Daddy. I will always love you. You’re the greatest man I’ll ever know.

Love and light.

In Memory of Mama

This is one of the days I dread each year. Today marks four years since my mama passed away. I’ve learned to function and continue to live life through but the loss is always keenly felt. It’s as though some important part og you is missing that can never be recovered.Β

The Thanksgivings, Christmases and my birthday seem so much less bright without her. I always cringed when she’d sing Happy Birthday to me but I would give anything to hear it now. I miss the way we used to cook dinner everyday and were able to communicate with each other without speaking, we just knew what the other needed.

I miss our conversations, even our disagreements, something I never thought would be possible, but I do. So if you read happen to read this post, just a reminder to let those close to you know that you love them because one day they will be gone.

Veterans Day

Hello everyone. Today’s posting will br short. Today is the 102nd anniversary of Veterans Day. I could go into the deep history of this day but I will instead leave the research to you. Unlike yesterday celebrating the 246th birthday of the Marines, this day is about all veterans, but not only them, also their families who served in their own ways praying ceaselessly for them to come home alive. So today let’s celebrate them all for theira service. They deserve it.

God Bless America. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

First to Fight

Hello everyone, it’s been a while. Did you miss me? Today I’ve got something to talk about and it’s the greatest fight club of them all. No I’m not talking about the movie. I’m talking about something even better. Today, November 10th is the 246th birthday of the United States Marine Corps. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

From the days of the American Revolution, to the war with the Barbary States and the Battle of Tripoli, from the War of 1812, the Civil War, to the Spanish-American War all the way to the Boxer Rebellion in China, the Marines have been here to protect our nation and her interests at home and abroad. How many people can boast a resume like that?

Sergeant Daniel Daly a boy from the slums of Brooklyn, survivor of the Boxer Rebellion in Peking, having killed thirty of them in one night won the Congressional Medal of Honor a record, count them, three times. There’s a guy you don’t want to mess with.

All throughout out the Pacific during World War II, Guadalcanal, Saipan, and Iwo Jima, where it was the Marines who raised our flag atop Mt. Suribachi immortalized in that photo. Our Marines are always there.

From the Chosin Reservoir in Korea where the held out against impossible odds, to Khe Sahn in Vietnam during the Tet Offensive, to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, Marines lead the way. The motto of the Marines Corps is Semper Fidelis a Latin phrase meaning, “Always Faithful,” and they are certainly that.

If the Army and the Navy

The best way I think to finish this post is with the closing lines of the Marine Corps Hymn:

If the Army and the Navy

Ever look on Heaven’s scenes

They will find the streets are guarded

By United States Marines.

Even God knows who to call.

Happy 246th Birthday Marines!

Semper Fi! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

The Blank Screen Aggravation

Ever try watching tv in braille? I know, how do you do that, it doesn’t make sense? It does when your television loses the picture immediately after you turn it on. No picture but the volume works fine. It’s like listening to a giant radio mounted on your wall. I’m pissed.

Suspecting that the problem is my satellite service, I call my provider, spoke to a lovely woman named Lynn, (I liked her name, simple, easy to remember) and after an hour and a half, I still had the same problem, only I was one hour and thirty minutes older and a lot more aggravated. Not blaming Lynn, she even set up an appointment time for a technician to come out and fix my problem, even expedited it to give my the soonest possible one, soonest time they could come…OCTOBER 23! THREE FUCKING WEEKS! Don’t hurry, be careful, don’t fall all over yourselves trying to rush here for a paying customer. And they sure as hell aren’t. Lazy bastards.

I called my girlfriend Poop Ahoy, who like always was sitting on the toilet, and she chalked it up to their maybe being short staffed. Who cares? Not my problem. The can’t possibly be so far behind it will take three weeks. And what if it’s the television and not the service, I can’t find out either for, THREE WEEKS!! Maybe I’ll switch my service to Spectrum. It can’t be any worse than this.

Until next time, try and enjoy the daylight. I will, I sure as hell don’t have a television to distract me. 😎🚬

The London Bridge Tragedy.

This morning while visiting the doctor for a routine checkup, from a child’s electric device I heard about a terrible news event as it was happening: London Bridge is falling down!

And worse, some poor man’s fair lady is suffering from severe short-term memory loss, because he had to repeat it 28 times. Even more strange, why was he singing it?

I was unable to concentrate while my doctor examined me, worrying about those poor people trapped on London Bridge as it fell. Who was responsible for this? Was it a terrorist attack? Maybe the bridge has become damaged from all of the daily traffic traveling over it for all of these years. O’ the humanity!

I rushed home and turned on the television trying to find any up to the minute news about the bridge…

Nothing. At least so far. Nothing I can find on the internet either. But I’m still looking. I wish I knew how the poor lady with the horrible short-term memory problem is doing. Not that she would remember for long anyway.

When I find news about the bridge I’ll let you know.

Until next time, avoid bridges, because you never know. 😎🚬

The October County

On this glorious first day of October (yes it feels like Autumn is finally here) let us celebrate the October Country.

What is the October Country?

Glad you asked sports fans.

The October Country, is Ray Bradbury’s personal description of the netherworld of our souls, inhabited by the horrors and demons that lurk within us all.

You don’t have to indulge them, just know that they are there. Enjoy the month of horror movies (many so bad that watching them is a horror). Wear wild colors and do crazy things. Let loose the demons of your creativity, indulge your wild side. You never know what I’ll do but it’s always fun.

Enjoy these 31 days of travel through the October Country.

Until next time, try and enjoy the daylight. 😎🚬
